Why did I choose the International Project Lab?
My background is in Civil Engineering, and throughout my career, I’ve specialized in transportation planning. What fascinates me about transportation is its multidisciplinary nature, since it connects engineering with social sciences, economics, governance, and more. You can’t truly discuss mobility without understanding its broader social and policy contexts. That’s one of the major reasons why I chose the International Project Lab. It’s a place where these different perspectives come together, fostering knowledge-sharing and research collaboration at a world-class academic level.
My life in Japan
Moving from Brazil to Japan was a life-changing experience. Every aspect, from language and food to urban infrastructure and social norms, came with its own challenges and surprises. Adapting wasn’t always easy, but stepping out of my comfort zone helped me grow in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Living in a multicultural environment, both in the lab and in the dormitory, gave me the chance to develop soft skills, make lifelong friends from all over the world, and immerse myself in Japanese culture. Through all the ups and downs, the IP Lab team was a constant source of support and encouragement, and for that, I’m truly grateful!
